Evidence Based Therapies

These are the therapies that I am trained to offer in session

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence based approach that helps individuals live a meaningful life by accepting difficult thoughts and emotions, being present, and committing to actions aligned with personal values.

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) is an evidence based therapeutic approach that helps individuals develop self-compassion and improve emotional well-being. It combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness and compassion training to address issues like shame, self-criticism, and low self-worth. The goal is to cultivate a kind, understanding relationship with yourself to promote healing and emotional resilience.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a structured, short-term form of psychotherapy that helps individuals identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours. It focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions, aiming to develop healthier coping strategies. CBT is evidence-based and commonly used to treat conditions like anxiety, depression, and stress.

  • Trauma-Focused Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) is an integrative approach that helps individuals who have experienced trauma develop self-compassion and reduce shame and self-criticism. It combines principles focusing on soothing the threat system and building emotional resilience through compassion. This approach is especially useful for those whose trauma has impacted their ability to feel safe or worthy.

  • Person-Centred Therapy is an evidence based, humanistic approach that emphasizes the individual's capacity for self-healing and personal growth. It focuses on creating a non-judgmental, empathetic, and accepting therapeutic environment where clients feel understood and valued.

  • Mindfulness Therapy involves cultivating present-moment awareness with an attitude of openness and non-judgment. It helps individuals observe their thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations without reacting impulsively. It is often used to manage stress, anxiety, and depression by promoting emotional regulation and resilience.

  • Behavioural Activation is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps individuals overcome depression by encouraging engagement in meaningful and enjoyable activities. It aims to break the cycle of avoidance and low mood by increasing positive reinforcement through planned, goal-directed behaviours, thereby improving motivation and emotional well-being.

Ongoing Training

These are the therapies that I am currently training in

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) for individuals helps people understand, express, and transform difficult emotions to promote healing and self-growth. It supports emotional awareness, regulation, and the development of healthier emotional responses.

For couples, EFT focuses on strengthening emotional bonds by identifying negative interaction patterns and fostering secure attachment. It helps partners express their needs and emotions more openly to build trust, intimacy, and connection.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence based therapeutic approach that views the mind as made up of different "parts" or sub-personalities, each with its own thoughts, emotions, and roles. It helps individuals understand and heal wounded parts by connecting with their core Self—a calm, compassionate inner leader. IFS promotes internal harmony and self-acceptance, making it especially effective for trauma, anxiety, and self-esteem issues.
